Description
Rapid test for the qualitative detection of hCG in urine, with the intention of detecting pregnancy. In a normal pregnancy, hCG can be detected in both serum and urine as early as 7 to 10 days after conception. The hCG level rises rapidly and exceeds 100 IU/ml before the first missed menstrual period, and reaches a peak around 100-200 IU/ml after 10-12 weeks of pregnancy. Presence of hCG in both urine and serum shortly after fertilization, and the rapid increase in concentration early in pregnancy, is an excellent marker for early detection of pregnancy. The test has a sensitivity of 25 IU/ml. The result is read after 3 minutes.
